About The Director

Christopher Ellerston, a native of Fort Dodge, IA, graduated from Central College in Pella, IA summa cum laude with majors in vocal music education (K-12), German studies (K-12), and minored in instrumental music education (K-12).

With his diverse musical background he participated in many collegiate ensembles playing cello, tuba, euphonium, bass trombone, and singing. Highlighting Christopher's experience at Central was a year of academic study abroad in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany and Vienna, Austria with studies at the Prayner Conservatory and Conservatory for Church Music. Mr. Ellerston directed the church and handbell choirs at First Baptist Church in Pella, IA from 2010-2014. In June of 2014, he assumed the role of organist and choirmaster at St. Mark Lutheran Church in West Des Moines, Iowa. Since 2012, he has been a soloist with the Central College Community Choir for many major works by Schubert, Handel, and Mozart. A current resident of Pella, IA, he is currently finishing his third year at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Community School Disctrict and has grown the choral program grades 7-12 from 34 students in 2012 to 65 students in 2015. His ambition for educating students: transformation. He wants to influence those around him in such a way that they see beauty in the world, aspire to be greater than they are now, and feel satisfaction from personal success in their future.
