Iowa Students Care Chorus
On December 15, 9 selected members from the Rocket Chorale traveled to Ames, Iowa to perform with over 1,200 students from Iowa's 99 counties in the Iowa Students Care Chorus along with world-famous bass-baritone, Simon Estes. Jessie Eveland, Mika Farnum, Madison Giltner, Mashayla Lobberecht, Roseanna Miller, Morgan Reddy, Irene Roberts, Devon Severson, and Aislynn Stockdall performed Christmas carols and the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah. This was a concert Simon Estes organized to fight malaria in Africa and the proceeds from the concert went to purchasing simple nets that will help prevent the disease. Mr. Ellerston is very proud of the participation of these students and their sincere enjoyment of this once in a lifetime opportunity to sing in the largest assembled chorus Iowa has ever seen.

I'm happily surprised at the sound you are able to get from, not a very big choir, but it's a rich, robust sound!

Large Group Contest
On Saturday, May 10, 21 of the 25 members of the Rocket Chorale traveled to Mid-Prairie and performed at Large Group Contest, earning a Division I rating. They were among 3 of 12 performing choral ensembles to receive this rating. Their selections performed were "My Soul Longs For You, O God" arr. Hal Hopson and Linda Spevacek's "Deep River." This is the first division I the ensemble has earned since 2007.
As promised, I allowed the Rocket Chorale to duck tape me to a chair for earning a division I at contest.
