Grading
It should be simple to earn a satisfactory grade in choir if the choir rules and expectations are followed. Communication and responsibility are two important values that will make choir fun and enjoyable. We follow the EBF Jr./Sr. High grading scale.
25% Classroom Preparation (students will earn up to 10 points per class period) – Formative Evaluation
Honor choirs are optional and NOT a required part of being in choir.

- Rubric used to assess posture, conditions for singing, attitude toward musical performance, and collaboration (See rubric)
- Written tests, worksheets, and computer work will be averaged for the quarter
- Students will be assigned times to attend individual lessons for vocal coaching. Responsibility is important because I cannot make up lessons for every student on a weekly basis.
- Excused absences shall only be for illness of the student or a family emergency (This does not include social functions.) A parent/guardian phone call is needed the day of a required event. No student e-mails accepted. No exceptions. Remember, that prior communication allows for options and prevents problems.
- Excused absences from a family emergency (involves illness/hospitalization/funeral of a family member) must be communicated within 12 hours of the performance. No exceptions.
- Excused absences will be allowed to make up the points.
- Unexcused absences will NOT be allowed to make up the points. No exceptions.
